The "Air Museum" is proud of the work our volunteer's accomplish on a daily basis. We currently have a need for "Volunteers" or "Organizations" to adopt one of our aircraft displayed outside of the museum building. As a "Crew Chief" assigned to one of our aircraft you would be responsible for maintaining the overall appearance.

The following should be accomplished at least once per month:

  1. Clean the inside and outside of the aircraft.
  2. Inspect the interior/exterior for broken or missing items/parts.
  3. Perform a safety inspection of the aircraft and surrounding area's.
  4. Make repairs to the interior/exterior, with the assistance of other volunteers, if necessary.
  5. If possible, refurbish the inside area's of your aircraft to an acceptable safe viewing condition for the public. (At this time we don't allow the public into the displayed aircraft)
  6. The goal should be to maintain and improve the appearance of each aircraft. We would like to allow the public into each aircraft. This will only happen after making the interiors clean and safe.

What happens when we have volunteers who care?

  1. Visitors have a wonderful experience at the "Jimmy Doolittle Air & Space Museum".
  2. Crew Chiefs are in total control of "their" aircraft and make improvements after consulting with the museum "Staff".
  3. Want to show family members or friends the inside of your aircraft? You're the "Crew Chief"
  4. Memories that "YOU" made a difference in preserving our "Countries" history for future generations to view.

NOTE: Please call the "Museum" staff at 424-5605 to fill out a volunteer application and request one of the specific open aircraft below. Volunteers for the "C-141B" must have a current active duty "Travis Flight Line Badge".

The following is a list of our displayed aircraft. Blanks in the "Crew Chief" block are currently in need of volunteers:
